What is Sajunyang?
Sajunyang is a free Korean Saju website that builds and reads your chart from the eight characters of your birth date and time. It provides the natal chart and Five Elements analysis, the full 18-chapter reading and PDF report, compatibility for two, the 2027 New Year fortune, love, reunion, career and exam timings, today's fortune, cat tarot, the 60 Day Pillars encyclopedia and zodiac fortunes, with no sign-up or payment. All content has been free since October 24, 2026.
The readings are written from the characters and combinations actually in the chart, not from pleasant words, because we don't consider something that fits everyone to be information. That said, the readings are reference material based on traditional Saju theory and do not replace medical, legal or investment judgment.
What standards is the chart built on?
Even with the same birthday, different standards below produce a different chart. Sajunyang publishes all of its standards.
| Item | Standard |
|---|---|
| Solar term times | The exact moments of the 12 solar terms, including Ipchun where the Year and Month Pillars change, are calculated to the minute with an astronomical algorithm. Even those born on a solar term day get the correct Month Pillar. |
| Standard time changes | The history of 1908-04-01 UTC+8:30 → 1912-01-01 UTC+9 → 1954-03-21 UTC+8:30 → 1961-08-10 UTC+9 is applied using IANA time zone data (Asia/Seoul). |
| Daylight saving time | The daylight saving periods of 1948–1951, 1955–1960 and 1987–1988 are corrected automatically. Just enter the clock time as it was at birth. |
| Birthplace local mean time | Solar time is calculated from the birth city's longitude to set the Hour Pillar. Seoul (126.98°E) runs about 32 minutes behind standard time. This is the local mean time method, without the equation of time. |
| Rat hour handling | The default is the standard Rat hour (Day Pillar changes at 23:00); the late Rat hour (23:00–24:00 keeps the current day's Day Pillar with the next day's Rat hour as the Hour Pillar) can be selected in advanced settings. |
| Lunar conversion | Lunar data based on the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (korean-lunar-calendar) converts the years 1910–2049, with leap month support. |
| Luck Pillars | Men born in a yang year and women born in a yin year run forward; men born in a yin year and women born in a yang year run in reverse. The starting age is the number of days from the birthday to the next (or previous) solar term divided by 3. |
| Five Elements · Day Master strength | We count the stems and the hidden stems of the branches, apply seasonal weighting, and calculate the Five Elements distribution. The Day Master's strength is divided into five levels by seasonal, ground and numerical support, and the Useful God is chosen by balancing as the basis and climate as a supplement. |
| Reading text | The explanations of the 10 Day Masters, 60 Day Pillars, Ten Gods, Five Elements, Shinsal, combinations and clashes, and Twelve Life Stages are written by Sajunyang itself, based only on the characters and combinations actually present in a chart. The same calculation and the same text apply to every user. |
